3 Key Things to Remember When Using Medical Cannabis To Treat Anxiety

on April 16, 2020

This post should not be misinterpreted as medical advice, rather the general benefits users have had using medical cannabis. If you suffer from anxiety, please speak to your doctor.

Living with anxiety is no easy task; the constant internal tug can be overwhelming for many. Then, there are plenty of situations and life events that will bring about heightened anxiety; and the current pandemic our country is facing is certainly stressful and anxiety-ridden.

The good news for card carrying cannabis users? Medical marijuana has been shown to help decrease anxiety. Here are three key things to remember.

1. Understand how your body reacts

First things first, it’s critical you get a sense of how your body reacts to certain strains, methods of consumption, and dosages. Everyone has a unique reaction, so get comfortable with how your body reacts to cannabis. In particular, some people prefer CBD to THC for anxiety reduction.

2. Purchase from a knowledgeable dispensary

It goes without saying that you should purchase your medical cannabis legally from a reputable dispensary. That way, you know the product is high quality and exactly where it’s sourced from. Plus, you’ll have the help of a knowledgeable staff to help you based on your needs.

(If you’re in Central Maine, Hive Medicinal is here to help.)

3. Know it’s not a cure

Using medical marijuana isn’t a one-time fix-all for anxiety. Not only that, but medical marijuana may not reduce anxiety for everyone.

If you’re a first time user, make sure you keep your doctor and/or therapist in the loop. They may be able to offer additional recommendations to use.
